MEI · Edger (milling technology)
MEI EasyFit Trend
block-less. waterless. precise.
The compact edger that mills lenses instead of grinding them – no blocks, no pads and entirely without water. Available in two versions: PRO for standard day-to-day work and MAX for special bevels, sports frames and full quality control. With the optional EasyBuddy it becomes an automated loading solution.

Overview
Milling instead of a grinding wheel
The EasyFit Trend removes lens material by milling, without force. The result is a perfect size and bevel profile – especially gentle on super-hydrophobic and coated lenses, with no frame heating and no rework. The outcome: a fit that is right first time (100 % first-time fit).
No-Block system
No blocks, no pads. The integrated multipoint lensmeter (Shack-Hartmann) handles block-less centering of single-vision, progressive and special lenses.
Dry Cut – no water
Dry machining saves around 1 million litres of water per year. No water filtration or treatment plant required – lower costs and maintenance.
Dual loading arm
The right and left lens are picked up together and edged in sequence – non-stop, with no operator intervention.
All bevel types
Bevel, rimless, nylor, drilling, polishing and safety bevel – through to T-bevel and step-back, at any inclination up to base 16 (milling tool tilts up to 45° for wrap frames).
Remote edging
Send jobs from one or several stores to the edger across locations – no frame shipping, a leaner workflow.
Engraving
Custom laser engraving of logos, lettering or symbols on the lens – an exclusive service to help you stand out.
Versions compared
PRO or MAX – which one fits?
Both versions share milling, No-Block, Dry Cut, the integrated lensmeter, the dual loading arm and the 17″ touch interface (EyeGOAL). The difference lies in the processing range and quality control.

Optional automation
EasyBuddy – the lab operator with a cobot
EasyBuddy is an automated loading system with an integrated cobot. It loads and unloads the EasyFit Trend (as well as the EZFit NoBlock) autonomously, pre-inspects every lens and places it in the perfect position – so edging runs largely without manual intervention.
Up to 5 + 5 trays: manages up to five trays at the entrance and five at the exit; optionally expandable with a stacker/destacker system or external conveyors.
EasyScan pre-inspection: analyses every lens before edging – polarization included – and hands it to the EasyFit precisely centered and oriented.
Barcode-driven jobs: prepared via the LMS (lab management system), an offline station or directly on the machine.
Manual operation anytime: loading and unloading do not affect machine operation; the EasyFit stays available for any manual intervention, and EasyBuddy can be disabled when needed.
Modular & upgradeable: available as an upgrade for EasyFit Trend and EzFit NoBlock – less need for skilled staff with an optimized footprint.
How EasyBuddy works
01
The tray flows on a conveyor to the EasyScan area.
02
The EasyFit uploads the job through the barcode reader.
03
The cobot loads the lens in EasyScan for pre-inspection (centering & orientation).
04
The cobot moves the lens into the EasyFit.
05
The cobot moves the edged lens back into its position in the tray.
